Discover Fun Life: New Puppy- Where to go and what to expect

Hi!

Bringing a new puppy into your life is one of the most joyous and exciting experiences. As a proud pet parent myself, I can empathize with the endless love and adoration you must be experiencing. Today, I want to share my heartwarming journey of my experience as a first time pup mom, what to expect and the best products to get when you’re starting off.

My trainer told me that I needed to give my puppy as much exposure to sights, sounds, smells, noises and unusual experiences early on. However, the vet said for me to avoid interactions and that the dog should not be going out or touching the ground until he had all his vaccines. So, stuck in the middle of great advice, what was I going to do? I did some research and decided that using a carry pouch would help my new furry friend adjust and explore the world in his first five months of life. I would highly recommend purchasing the TOMKAS Dog Sling or all your exploration needs. There is a big pocket in the front, large enough to hold car keys and your cell phone and a small wallet. The strap is adjustable and inside the carrier is a strap with a lobster claw hook to attach to the dog’s harness. This was a lifesaver because it allowed me to continue to live my life and it allowed Zeus to explore and get the sensory experiences that were required for him to be his best self in the future years.

Join me as we delve into the adventures of our bonding experiences, memorable encounters, and the benefits of using a carry pouch for your puppy! I’ll also share the locations we visited in our first 5 months together that are dog friendly.

The Carry Pouch Magic

The carry pouch became a fundamental tool in Zeus’ adjustment period. It provided a safe and comfortable space for him while allowing me to carry him around effortlessly and continue to live my life. As Zeus nestled inside the pouch, he could feel my presence and soothing heartbeat, which aided in building trust and a strong bond between us. He also had a safe place to start learning about the world. We went to all sorts of places, from the park, to bars and we even had a road trip.

Out and About: Introducing Zeus to the World

Venturing out into the world was a gradual process for Zeus. The carry pouch acted as a buffer, giving him a sense of security as we explored new environments. From visiting parks, pet-friendly cafes, and even weekend getaways, the pouch became an essential part of our outings. I would put him in his pouch to go out for a short stroll around the block. This allowed him to get outside, smell the surroundings (without touching the ground), learning about bicycles, motorcycles and passers by. These were fundamental steps in his growth, and we did it all safely. I can’t tell you how many people we met walking down to the local bar in downtown Hollywood. Our most regular spot on the weekend was The Tipsy Boar . It was a quick 10 minute walk from our house and super dog friendly place. We would frequent there very often. I’d help myself to a beer and a sandwich, while Zeus helped himself to pets and adoration from strangers. There wasn’t me time that someone didn’t obsess over him. Other places we visited while he was in his pouch were, Twin Peaks , another super dog friendly place- I would recommend the the dirty blonde beer, light, tasty and cold. A fun day was when we went on our first road trip to the Florida Keys. We went to Islamorada and found these great places right along the water. We experienced some quirky shopping and yummy food at Robbie’s On the Bay . You can pay to get on the dock and feed the tarpon, or explore some of the little shops , or just relax by the water with a beer and some foo. I’d the say experience itself is worth the drive, the price is affordable for food and a few drinks. After Robbie’s I found this incredible place nestled on the inlet with a small beach. They have this incredible view and the food was delicious. You must check out Marker 88 on your way back. The prices are a little higher, but it’s worth the view. I enjoyed a cocktail and light appetizers while Zeus socialized and made friends with the guests to the right and left of us. We were allowed on the small beach and I let Zeus touch the sand for the first time, just for a few minutes. We met some other nice people with dogs there too. The staff was friendly and I would recommend making this a stop on your way to the Keys. This pouch really facilitated many parts of my life and allowed me to continue living the life I had before I got him. It prevented me from staying home.

Socializing and Building Confidence

One of the significant advantages of using a carry pouch was the ability to socialize Zeus with different people and scenarios. As I carried him while strolling through busy streets and markets, he got accustomed to an array of sights, sounds, and smells. The pouch provided him with a safe, elevated viewpoint, which promoted confidence and minimized potential anxiety.

A Stepping Stone to Total Independence

As Zeus grew older and more confident, the carry pouch became less of a necessity. It seamlessly transitioned from a primary mode of transportation to a comforting space where he occasionally sought solace. Ultimately, the pouch served its purpose perfectly by allowing Zeus to explore the world at his own pace, gradually gaining independence.

Conclusion: A Bond Forged with Love and a Carry Pouch

In the first five months of Zeus’ life, our journey together was nothing short of remarkable. The carry pouch played an influential role by providing comfort, security, and exposure to the outside world. Not only did it facilitate bonding, but it also helped Zeus develop into a well-adjusted and confident little pup.

If you're considering adding a new puppy to your family, consider incorporating a carry pouch into your journey. It can be an invaluable tool for your furry friend's early development and a wonderful way to forge an unbreakable bond of love and trust.

Remember, each puppy is unique, so always consult with your veterinarian for advice tailored to your specific needs. Happy puppy parenting!
